Privacy policy

GarbaGround is an online 3D garba ground. This policy explains what we collect when you use it, why, who can see it, and how you can delete it.

What we collect

Account: your email address. If you continue with Google, we also receive your name and Google profile photo from Google.
Profile: the name shown on your name tag, an optional profile photo you upload, and your idol (the choices you make in the dressing room).
Contact and location: your mobile number, city, state and country. We ask for these when you set up your profile.
Technical: a sign-in cookie that keeps you logged in, and settings saved in your browser (such as your language).

To sign you in and keep your account safe.
To show you and your idol to other khelaiyas on the ground.
To contact you about your account using your mobile number, only with your consent.
To understand, in general terms, where our khelaiyas are, so we can plan events and languages.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.

Other signed-in khelaiyas can see your name, your idol and your profile photo (if you add one).
Your email, mobile number, state and country are private. Other khelaiyas never see them. Your city is shown on your profile card when someone taps your idol; you can turn this off in your profile ("Show my city to other khelaiyas").

Your data is stored with our hosting and database provider (Supabase), in its Mumbai (India) region. Sign-in with Google is handled by Google under Google's privacy policy.
When music is added, songs will play through YouTube's official player, which is subject to Google's privacy policy.

Chat is between friends only. We store your messages so you and your friend can read them, and keep them for up to 1 year after they are sent.
If you delete a message, its words are removed for both of you. Deleting your account deletes all your messages.
If someone reports a message, our moderators see that message only, to decide on the report. We don't read chats otherwise.
We record that you confirmed you are 18 or older, and when.

Payments are processed by Razorpay. We receive the payment ID, amount, status and method type (such as UPI or card), never your card number, UPI PIN or bank login.
We keep payment records for 8 years, as Indian tax and accounting law requires, even if you delete your account.
To stop fraud we check where a payment request comes from (your IP address, briefly) and may use Cloudflare Turnstile, a privacy-friendly check that you are a person.
If you have a Navratri Pass, other khelaiyas can see it: your name tag turns gold and a small gold garbo shows by your name. They don't see your plan, dates or payments.

We count a few steps in the app, such as "saw the sign-up card", "signed up", "saw the Pass card" and "paid", to learn which parts help people. Each step is saved with a random id kept in your browser, and your account id once you sign in.
This stays with us: no third-party trackers, no advertising ids, and nothing is sold. These records are deleted after 400 days.

We keep your data while you have an account.
You can remove your profile photo at any time on your profile page.
You can delete your account on your profile page. This permanently deletes your profile, photo, idol, mobile number and location details.

You can see and correct your details on your profile page at any time, withdraw consent by deleting your account, and ask us questions about your data through the app.

If you are under 18, please use GarbaGround only with the permission of a parent or guardian.

If we change this policy, we will update the date above and tell you in the app when the change is important.
